Last Saturday, my cousin, Leilani Renee, performed for the first time as a local artist at a Filipino concert held in Sydney. Although I wasn’t able to watch her perform on the night, I arrived to do her hair just as she was about to jump on stage and rehearse for her solo. I could not have been more proud of my beautiful cousin, as I watched her perform on stage. I watched in awe as my 12 year old cousin performed a flawless rendition of Katy Perry’s “The One That Got Away”.
For her performance, I styled her hair with messy and loose waves. The ‘messy look’ helped in creating volume in Leilani’s hair, as she naturally has very silky and smooth hair. Not that it’s ever a bad thing to have silky and smooth hair, but people who have this type of hair will know that it’s often hard to hold curls throughout the night. To assist in creating the messy waves, I’ve used a beach spray and just finished off the look with a decent amount of hairspray.
Leilani’s makeup was done by Cindy Barraga, who opted for a ‘Kardashian/Jenner’ inspired look. The makeup was great, as the bright lipstick stood out on stage and completed Leilani’s ‘celebrity’ look. Even after performing a few numbers on stage, Leilani’s hair and makeup still looked fabulous!
